Technology trends move at the speed of light so it can be hard to keep up with the latest advances in this innovative digital world. That is why we have put together a list of the top tech trends to look out for in the second half of 2018, so read on to stay ahead of the computational curve.
Top Trend No.1 – IoT meets Blockchain
In our hyper-connected world, it is easy to do things like use Amazon’s Alexa to reorder our groceries or turn the temperature down in our home. The Internet of Things (IoT) uses sensors connected to devices to perform these tasks but now if you incorporate blockchain technology you have an incredibly useful new tool that greatly decreases the risk of hacking by creating a digital footprint over a vast number of computers. Combining IoT and blockchain allows sensitive information to be gathered about everything from drug manufacturing to the control of traffic and can be shared with everyone in that distribution chain with the reassurance that valuable and confidential data is exempt from breaches and hacking.
Top Trend No.2 – Circuit Training
PCB Design Software is an open source suite for printed circuit boards and electronic design automation (EDA). The industry has gone from strength to strength in recent years with Altium pioneering high-performance software and powerful tools for designers and engineers. Their software powers products designed by NASA and Microsoft to name a few.
Top Trend No.3 – Mojave is blazing a trail
Apple recently announced its latest update Mojave for the macOS at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2018 (WWDC) in San Jose in California this month. Apple is well known for its innovation and this year’s keynote address was no exception. The introduction of Dark Mode designed to improve focus; an automatic organization of files sing stacks and a complete redesign of the App Store are just some of the features mac to look out for. This fall we can also expect iOS 12 to drop, promising a faster, more responsive interface with the ability to facetime with up to 32 people at once – perfect for keeping your team in the loop. Other notable updates include the watchOS 5 and Apple TV 4K giving plenty to look forward to in the autumn months.
Top Trend No.4 – The augmented life gets better
Ever since Pokémon Go hit our smartphones in 2017, big brands have been quick to develop the latest customizable experiences delivered straight to our phones and one of the most exciting is Heads Up Displays (HUD) following the introduction of wearable tech by companies such as Google. Originally used by military fighter pilots to help monitor their environment, this technology is now being used to great effect in consumer eyewear allowing us to translate foreign languages on the go, make online purchases from digital pop-up stores and watch a virtual boxing game from the comfort of our living rooms, all without even touching our smartphones. Augmented reality really is the future.
