Get Ready For Penguin 3.0 from now

Although Google Penguin 2.0 affected around 2.3% of all Google query results on 22nd of May this year, it was nothing compared to the first penguin which was probably a tsunami. The effect of Penguin 2.0 was less harsh than expected. In our opinion, this was due to the fact that most in the SEO industry already learnt their lesson from Penguin 1.0. The link building strategy changed a lot. No more blog commenting or profile creation links. They were cutely replaced by guest blogging and broken link building. Many black hat practitioners were reformed after Penguin 1.0

Google is keen that every site owner abides by their laws which they have pointed out in the webmaster guide. Thus, they will keep on updating the algorithm till they reach perfection. Thus, there are more updates to come and it is necessary that you stay ahead of the tide.

Target Domain Relevancy

Many SEO gurus have stopped noting Page Rank, Domain Authority, Page Authority and similar metrics and instead focusing only on relevancy. Page relevancy is playing an all important role. The effect of links from relevant pages can be seen clearly, even if the links are not coming from high authority websites. The links from closely related sites work wonderfully, as we have noticed.

The short term SEO gain from related links would be gaining natural links. There is no working algorithm to calculate page relevancy, but it should be analyzed manually. This is something which Google will surely be targeting in Penguin 3.0

When looking for link opportunities, look closely for the sites which are most related to the site you won, in addition to the other page factors. This part is crucial and will never be discarded for sure.

Change OnPage Strategy

Keyword stuffing might be dead for long now, but this doesn’t essentially mean that white hat SEO for on page factors are dead as well. There are a lot of on page factors which must be looked for when deciding the on page strategies. Even Meta tags have lost their power, or seemingly so. The entire important have now shifted to how to give the user a better experience through your landing page. Google itself, checks for usability factors, like user experience when deciding the rank of any page. You should work on a few points mentioned below to make your content even better, without worrying for in-depth technical issues.

OnPage Strategy

l  The first paragraph should be engaging. This will increase the time any user spends on the site and it will also help you to reduce the bounce rate.

l  Use subheaders on the landing page in an attractive way. Use of H2 is recommended here.

l  Please compose long enough and informative content.

l  Include infographics, videos, audios, screenshots etc as much as you can.

Use Brand Signals

Brand signals play an important role in Google’s ranking algorithms; this is why no big brand suffers during the updates. Although it is not easy to be an authority in any field with a new domain and “not so established” brand.

There are of course ways around this and gladly, these tricks can be performed without spending like Apple or Facebook.

l  You need to be hyperactive on social profiles. Make sure to be engaged in Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus etc. You can further add LinkedIn and Pinterest etc to your reporter but this depends on the industry you are situated in. This is called “digital real estate” and you should aspire to achieve as much as you can.

l  Use proper branding. Your name is very important than your business description. Do people refer to YouTube as “video sharing website”? Then why do you do that? Time it rethink your strategy.

l  Use Google Authorship for your website. Even if you don’t write a lot of contents, Google Authorship helps you to prove that a real person is writing content on the pages.

Using these points, you can stay safe from the upcoming changes which Google is to push out sooner or later. It is better to be safe from now as, if hit, it may take an eternity to get back on ranking.

It seems that Google don’t want people to work on their websites and content. Google is updating its algorithm so frequently that webmaster is not able to match its pace.

As much I loves such updates but I hate them most also. Penguin updates are too bad once they affect any site or blog. It takes lot of hard work and time to recover from Penguin. I hope I will not be in this list this time. 😛
